Deuteronomy 31:6
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” — Deuteronomy 31:6
There are seasons in life when loneliness feels overwhelming.
You can be surrounded by people and still feel unseen. You can be walking through responsibilities, challenges, or heartbreak and quietly wonder, “Is anyone with me in this?”
Deuteronomy 31:6 was spoken to people standing on the edge of the unknown. They were about to step into new territory, new battles, and unfamiliar ground. Fear would have been natural. Uncertainty would have been expected.
Yet God’s promise wasn’t that the path would be easy.
His promise was that He would be there.
“Be strong and courageous” is not a command to manufacture bravery on your own. It’s an invitation to trust that you are not walking alone. Strength doesn’t come from pretending you aren’t afraid—it comes from knowing God goes before you, beside you, and behind you.
When you feel alone:
-
God is already present.
-
When you feel unseen: God sees.
-
When you feel forgotten: God remembers.
-
When you feel abandoned: God remains.
Loneliness can whisper lies. It tells you that you’re isolated, unsupported, forgotten. But Scripture speaks louder. The Lord your God goes with you. Not sometimes. Not conditionally. Not when you perform well enough.
He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Even in the quiet moments.
Even in the dark seasons.
Even on the long, empty road.
You are not alone.
Prayer
Lord, when I feel alone or uncertain, remind me of Your nearness. Help me trust that You walk with me in every season. Give me strength and courage rooted not in myself, but in Your faithful presence. Amen.
