Life feels busy at the moment.
Stressful, if I’m honest. I don’t always handle that well. I make endless lists in my head — things I need to do, things I should have done, things I mustn’t forget. The list never seems to shrink.
It builds pressure.
It feeds anxiety.
It shortens my patience.
And before long, I’m carrying more than I was ever meant to.
The Weight We Were Never Designed to Hold
Sometimes the stress doesn’t come from one big thing — it comes from a hundred small ones. Responsibilities. Expectations. Deadlines. The quiet fear of falling behind.
Jesus speaks directly into that kind of weight:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28
Not manage it better.
Not try harder.
But come to Me.
Yet how often do I actually hand it over?
Lambs in the Field
This weekend, we went for a walk and saw the first lambs of the year.
Small. Fragile. Full of energy. New life in the fields.
There’s something about lambs that quietly announces: It’s not the end. It’s a beginning.
In the middle of my mental lists and anxious thoughts, those lambs were a reminder — God has this. Seasons change. Life renews. Mornings come.
Scripture echoes that same promise:
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed… His mercies are new every morning.”
— Lamentations 3:22–23
New mercies. Every morning.
A New Start Each Day
God doesn’t ask us to carry tomorrow’s worries today. He doesn’t demand we solve everything at once.
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
— 1 Peter 5:7
That verse is simple — but living it is harder.
Casting means releasing.
Handing over.
Letting go of control.
Maybe a new beginning doesn’t mean a new job, a new plan, or a dramatic change. Maybe it simply means waking up tomorrow and choosing to trust again.
From Lists to Trust
The lambs reminded me that life continues under God’s care whether I’m anxious or not.
The fields don’t strive.
The seasons don’t panic.
Creation trusts its Creator.
I need to learn to do the same.
Not by ignoring responsibility — but by placing it in the right hands.
A Short Prayer
Lord, You see the lists in my head and the weight on my heart.
Help me release my worries and trust You with what feels overwhelming.
Thank You for new mercies and new beginnings each day.
Amen.
