Not Forgotten: God Still Has Plans for You

This week I found myself at Dungeness — a vast, windswept stretch of coastline on the South Coast, often referred to as England’s only desert. It’s a place shaped by harsh weather and time, scattered with old boats and rusting equipment left where they once served a purpose.

They sit there now, battered by the elements.
Worn.
Weathered.
Seemingly forgotten.

And as I walked among them, I couldn’t help but think of people.

When Life Makes Us Feel Forgotten

There are moments in life when we can feel just like those boats — left behind, overlooked, and slowly worn down by time.

Maybe you feel forgotten.
Maybe you feel like your best years are behind you.
Maybe the lines on your face and the tiredness in your eyes tell stories of battles fought and losses carried.

To some, those signs are just age.
To a photographer, they tell a story — a life lived, a depth earned, a beauty shaped by experience.

But to God?

They are precious.

God Is Not Finished With You

The world often values what is new, fast, and polished.
God values what is faithful, enduring, and real.

Scripture tells us:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

Those plans don’t expire with age.
They don’t fade with wear.
And they don’t disappear because life has been hard.

You are not done.
You are not forgotten.
And you are not beyond God’s purpose.

Your Story Still Matters

Those old boats at Dungeness may no longer sail, but they still speak. They tell stories of work, endurance, storms survived, and journeys taken.

In the same way, your life experiences carry wisdom that younger generations need.
Your scars speak of survival.
Your faith, tested by time, carries a depth that can’t be taught.

The Bible reminds us:

“Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness.”
Proverbs 16:31

Your story has power.
Your testimony has weight.
And your presence can encourage in ways others simply can’t.

Restored, Not Abandoned

What the world might see as worn out, God sees as worth restoring.
What looks forgotten to others is still deeply known to Him.

“The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me;
Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.”

Psalm 138:8

You are not left to rot on the beach of life.
You are held.
You are loved.
And you are still called.

A Final Reminder

If you’ve ever felt like you’ve been left behind — know this:

God still wants you.
God still loves you.
And God still has plans for your life.

Your story isn’t over.
And your purpose hasn’t passed you by.

A Short Prayer

Lord, when I feel forgotten or worn down, remind me that I am still Yours.
Help me trust that You are not finished with me, and use my story to bring hope and encouragement to others.
Amen.
