Always Ready: A Saviour Who Waits for Our Call

This weekend was a busy one.

Final Christmas bits to collect, the food shop to get done, and then the weather turning — grey skies, strong winds, and that sense of everything moving quickly as the season closes in.

Each weekend, I try to pause and find something God might be teaching me — something small, something easily missed — that can be turned into a faith-focused reminder.
This week, it came quietly on Saturday morning.

A Still Moment in a Busy Weekend

Before the day fully took over, we headed out for an early walk around the local harbour. The air was cold, the water calm, and the morning light soft.

And there, sitting quietly in the harbour, was the lifeboat — still, ready, and bathed in the glow of the rising sun.

It wasn’t rushing anywhere.
It wasn’t making a scene.
It was simply there — waiting.

Ready When the Call Comes

As I stood there looking at it, something struck me deeply.

A lifeboat doesn’t need to search for trouble.
It waits.
And when the call comes — it responds without hesitation.

In the same way, our Saviour Jesus is never distant or distracted. He doesn’t need time to prepare. He doesn’t need convincing.

He is always near.
Always ready.
Always listening.

The Bible reminds us:

“Call upon Me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you.”

Psalm 50:15

What a comfort that is.

We Don’t Have to Face the Storm Alone

Life doesn’t always give us warning before the storms come.
They can arrive quietly or suddenly — through worry, grief, exhaustion, or fear.

And yet, like that lifeboat in the harbour, Jesus is already in place.
Waiting — not passively, but faithfully.
Ready to move the moment we call.

We don’t have to be strong enough.
We don’t have to have the right words.
We just have to call.

A Reminder for This Season

As Christmas approaches and life feels fuller, louder, and more demanding, it’s easy to forget how near help truly is.

But this weekend, that lifeboat reminded me:

Help is closer than we think.
Deliverance is ready.
And our Saviour is only a prayer away.

Whatever seas you’re facing today — calm or stormy — remember this:

Jesus is in the harbour.
And He is waiting for your call.

A Short Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You that You are always near.
When the storms come and I feel overwhelmed, remind me to call on You.
Help me trust that You are ready to rescue, guide, and carry me through.
Amen.
